It was another parade of greens all through last week, but things were different this time. Bitcoin just hit a new all-time high, people! 🚀. Looks like the October surprises just keep coming. To catch all that happened last week, check out our headlines:

Level Up! 😎

It finally happened, people! Bitcoin has done pretty well this month, and it finally got a new all-time high on Tuesday. Bitcoin crossed $64,900, marking a new high for it. But, the party didn’t stop there. Bitcoin continued to jump, and it even hit $67,000 before the hype cooled off for a little bit 🤯. Next stop, $100,000!

Flexing on the Haters 💪

If you thought Bitcoin was the only one that did amazing numbers this week, guess again. Thanks to the market’s performance, decentralized finance (DeFi) is now healthier than ever. On Thursday, the amount of funds locked in DeFi services hit a new high of $233 billion 🤩. DeFi volumes tend to rise when the crypto market is performing well, so this isn’t much of a surprise. Still, $233 billion is a boatload of money.

Worth the Wait 👏

For years, crypto investors have asked for a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). Well, one finally launched in the United States last week, and it didn’t let us down. After launching on Tuesday, the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF became the fastest ETF ever to hit $1 billion in volumes – doing so in just two days 🥵. Since then, the ETF has traded over $2 billion in volumes. Apparently, even Wall Street is feeling the crypto craze.

Akwaaba! 🇬🇭

Like Nigeria, Ghana has been working pretty hard to build a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Last week, an official at the Bank of Ghana gave spoilers into how the e-cedi will work. He explained that they’re looking to make the currency available even without power or internet access. So, people in the most remote parts of Ghana will be able to use it. No electricity or data, no problem! 👍

Some BTC for MiMi 🎶

Mariah Carey is the latest celebrity to jump on the Bitcoin train! Mariah said on Sunday that she will be partnering with the Gemini Exchange to boost crypto education – especially for girls of color. She also added that she uses the exchange to regularly invest in Bitcoin. Seems like we now know all she wants for Christmas – get it? 🙃
