PayPal has launched its crypto trading and payments in the United States. Customers will be able to trade a maximum of $20,000 per week, instead of $10,000 as they originally announced. Apparently, the plan is to bring crypto payments to 26 million global merchants on the platform. Dan Schulman, the company’s CEO thinks this new direction was bound to happen. The drift towards virtual currencies by Paypal’s existing customer base makes this move inevitable.

Blockchain is in West Africa, Weather You Like it or Not

West Africa is one of the most highlighted regions for climate change. It is also fast becoming a hot spot for crypto and blockchain. So Telokanda, a weather tech company is combining these traits to create weather solutions in the region. The company is partnering with blockchain platform Telos to upload weather change data to its blockchain as it’s happening. The data will be collected through devices known as weather balloons. The program will also notify citizens of weather changes via text message.

Akon’s Crypto Locked up in New Kenyan Smart City

Akon has started a test-run of Akoin, his cryptocurrency project. The launch happened at the $2 billion Mwale Medical Technology City (MMTC), in western Kenya. Since MMTC was just buoilt and is powered by technological innovation, it is perfect for testing out a blockchain solution. The launch in Kenya is coming right before the completion of Akon City in Senegal. Residents of MMTC will be able to send and receive money using Akoin. Let’s see how that goes 🧐
